Who am I?

I’m an indie author. I’ve published 30+ books and make a living doing it. It’s fun. I write whatever I want. I use swear words to my heart’s content. I set my own schedule.

I started offering story consulting in the form of the Story Alignment service to authors in 2019 because I found it, and still find it, fun as hell.

But then I noticed a trend. My indie author friends were burning out left and right and begging for help to get off the hamster wheel of rapid release and writing to trend.

As someone selling plenty of books in a genre everyone said couldn’t be profitable (satire), I knew it was possible to make money and write what I was passionate about if I went about it the right way. That success inspired me to create the free Indie Author Alignment: 5-Day Foundation course so other authors could make a similar roadmap for themselves.

Well, that took off, and after enough people asked me for one-on-one consulting on their fiction career, I created the Author Alignment.

I use my personal experience from years of failing forward as an indie author, practical industry know-how from hosting the Sell More Books Show and friends in high places, and love for helping others find their bliss, and I bring it all together to help YOU build something that feels right, has a clear direction, and is the most effective path to achieving your creative and monetary goals.

Relying heavily on the Enneagram framework, we get to the heart of what you want writing to do for you at a core level. From there, we assess what type of readers will flock to your body of work. Only then do we discuss the practicals of how to find those readers and get your books into their hands.

We don’t start at lofty royalty goals like a lot of “publishing experts” do, but we build to them at the end. Anyone can sell 100,000 books… but some trees require more time than others to bear fruit. If you’re enjoying the process in the meantime, living a happy life outside of work, and putting food on the table, who cares when you hit that arbitrary benchmark?
