half-day workshops and masterclasses

  • Author Alignment Workshop
Stop wasting energy spinning your wheels! Get your author career aligned so you can stop worry whether you’re heading in the right direction and start enjoying the ride, knowing you’ve built a career that will bring you fulfillment for years to come. This three-hour workshop will expand on four levels of Author Alignment: Career Values, Persona, Theme, and Protagonist. There will be a short refresher on each topic, then exercises, time for sharing, and a Q&A before moving onto the next concept. Enneagram questions are, of course, welcome, since that’s a large component of the Author Alignment framework.

  • Enneagram & Fiction Masterclass
One of the worst insults a reader can give is, “That character never would have done that!” But there are ways to guarantee that doesn’t happen, and it’s all found within getting to know your characters at a core level.
This masterclass is a dive into how the Enneagram can be used to build stronger and clearer character motivations in our fiction. Every other storytelling skill builds off this one, so we want to make sure we master it!
I’ll be showing you how to use the Enneagram framework to develop strong characters and define the right kind of conflict for them. We won’t be going deep into each of the nine Enneagram types, but rather learning how the tool works for fiction so that you can begin to learn more about it through self-study.
In-person event will include additional exercises to encourage participant exploration.

  • Five-Star Power Endings Masterclass
We all know strong endings are crucial for a reader to move on to your next book. We (humans) put a disproportionate weight on endings. I mean, think about it: What was the last movie or TV show you saw or book you read where the ending was, in your opinion, terrible? Maybe it was a great story up until that point. Would you recommend that book or movie or TV show to a friend, knowing the ending sucked? Or might your recommendation always carry the caveat of "but the ending was bad"?
You have GOT to stick the landing if you want your storytelling career to keep thriving. We all know this. And it can become a source of massive anxiety for an author.
The class will consist of a lesson with examples and questions for you along the way. At the end of the lesson, participants are invited to share their ending woes, and I’ll offer live consulting.

  • Hero’s Journey of the Enneagram Masterclass
You're probably familiar with the hero's journey, but did you know that certain elements coincide with the Enneagram Levels of Development? We'll take a deep dive into this SUPER nerdy concept to help you understand what call to action, adventure, supreme ordeal, and elixir naturally fit with your protagonist.
This masterclass will help you understand your protagonist’s struggles as well as central themes that naturally arise for the personality type to help you write stronger, more compelling stories.
Master the concepts necessary to write authentic, well-defined, and sympathetic protagonists your readers will want to revisit time and time again.
Participants would benefit the most with some basic understanding of the Enneagram prior to attending, though there will be plenty of opportunities for asking questions along the way.
